Mission Statement
Maintain a connection with the college students’ “home church” through communication and support. Promote the Iowa United Methodist College Scholarship program.
Specific Program Responsibilities
- Update addresses of all college students at the beginning of each school year
- Send seasonal notes and gifts four times per year to remind the students that their church family at home is thinking of them (October, finals week in December, February, and finals week in May)
- Send each student a letter in the month of his or her birthday
- Raise funds to support this ministry (in addition to the funding provided through the regular church budget) by:
- hosting fellowship coffee on College Relations Sunday in November (also features Iowa United Methodist College Scholarship program)
- encouraging church members to sponsor a student by donating $5.00 for a fast food gift certificate and signing a note to be sent during finals week in May
Responsibilities of the Chairperson
- Coordinate projects
- Set meeting schedules and agendas
- Report to and attend any church committee meetings
Responsibilities of the Members
- To brainstorm with other committee members to come up with new and exciting ministry opportunities.
- To help with accomplishing projects.
