United Methodist Women

To the woman

who finds meaning in her church and is drawn to its fellowship; whose life is packed full of activity and obligations; who struggles with loneliness or a sense of failure; who juggles jobs and family, and tries to be faithful to both; who wants to combine classroom study with significant fellowship and outreach opportunities; who seems overburdened with the traditional woman's role of care giver; who feels she has gifts which are wasted or undeveloped; who wants to be accepted for who she is; or who needs a supportive community to affirm her own sense of purpose and commitment to God...

We invite you to membership in United Methodist Women.

Women at the Well
Women at the Well - Saturday, May 31, 2008
is the name of the church at the Mitchellville Women's Prison.  Pastor Arnette Pint is always glad to share inspiring stories of the women who worship there and the challenges they face.

This year we are collecting Personal Items (shampoo, conditioner, soap, deodorant and hand/body lotion) and Towel Sets (one bath towel, one hand towel, and one wash cloth) for the women. read more ...

Purpose

The organized unit of UNITED METHODIST WOMEN shall be a community of women whose purpose is to know God and to experience freedom as whole persons through Jesus Christ; to develop a creative, supportive fellowship; and to expand concepts of mission through participation in the global ministries of the church.

The Purpose was set to music in 1990 by JoAnn Orthel.  You can click on the link "Purpose Song" in the Favorite Links Box below to see the music.

Quilting Prayer

quilt.jpg
Life isn't given to us all of a piece;
It's more like a patchwork quilt.
Each hour and minute a patch to fit in
To the pattern that's being built.

With some patches gay--
And some patches dark.
And some that seem ever so dull.
But if we were given to set some apart,
We'd hardly know which to cull.

For it takes the dark patches
to set off the light.
And, somehow, the pattern just wouldn't be right
If we took any part away.

No, life isn't given to us all of a piece
But in patches of hours
to His pattern of life
To whatever design He might choose.
